FEMA Grants Awarded for Enhanced Security

WASHINGTON, DC Congressman Ted Poe (TX-02) announced today that Jefferson County has been awarded $5,272,550 from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Infrastructure Protection Program (IPP) for security enhancements.

Because Jefferson County is home to one of the largest military ports and petrochemical industry in our nation, homeland security in our district is of the utmost importance, said Poe. As a member of the subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transport and the Port Security Caucus, I have been an outspoken advocate for increased funding and security in our district. This funding is good news for Jefferson County and I look forward to continuing to work with local leaders to improve security and infrastructure.

The IPP Grant addresses the following five programs:

--Port Security Grant Program
--Transit Security Grant Program
--Intercity Bus Transit Security Program
--Trucking Security Program
--Buffer Zone Protection Program

The $5.3 million funding for Jefferson County comes under the Port Security Grant Program (PSGP).
