Rep. Poe makes Formal Request to USPS for New Post Office to Serve the Growing Atascocita, Summerwood, and Eagle Springs Communities
Congressman Ted Poe (TX-02) sent a formal request to the United States Postal Service (USPS) to consider a plan for an additional USPS Postal Center to serve the growing communities in northeast Harris County. In a letter to USPS District Manager Kelvin Williams, Congressman Poe requested that the USPS open an additional post office to meet the needs of the rapid growth of the Atascocita, Summerwood and Eagle Springs communities.
The current postal facilities serving this area cannot keep up with the population boom in the Atascocita, Summerwood and Eagle Springs neighborhoods, said Poe. Humble ISD has recognized the growth by opening a new high school to serve these communities and I feel that it is necessary that the USPS recognize the need to expand their facilities to meet the current and future needs of our area as well.
Currently, residents in the northeast Harris County communities of Humble, Kingwood, Atascocita, Summerwood and Eagle Springs are serviced by the Humble Post Office and/or the East Houston Station. With the recent population growth in the area, the need for an additional facility is imperative to maintaining consistent and convenient service for the residents of these growing communities.
I look forward to working with the USPS to see that this request is given every consideration, continued Poe. My office has a good working relationship the USPS Houston District and I am committed to work with them in anyway to achieve this goal.
