Service Academy Nominations

As a U.S. Representative, I have the privilege and honor to nominate qualified men and women who reside in the Second Congressional District of Texas to our nation’s Service Academies: the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The nomination process is very competitive for the limited number of nominations available.  The selection of those nominees is always a difficult decision for the Second District’s independent Service Academy Nomination Board.

Our nation’s Service Academies are among the finest schools in our great nation. They not only teach academics, but they also instill discipline, commitment and leadership in the young Americans who attend.  The Nomination Board looks for a well-rounded applicant: academic qualifications, SAT/ACT scores and leadership weigh into what makes a good applicant.  Being physically and medically fit are vital.

If you are interested in applying for entrance into one of the nation’s Service Academies in the summer of 2017, please download the U.S. Service Academy Application Packet, read it carefully and be certain that you comply with all criteria and the designated deadline.

Thank you for your interest and desire to serve this great nation.

God and Texas,

Success Stories

Greggrie O’Garro

Greggrie O’Garro received my nomination to the United States Naval Academy in 2011. On the 27th he will be commissioned, serving as a surface warfare officer. His future plans included serving as a chaplain after his commitment is fulfilled. At the service academy, I noticed that he was a leader among his classmates. I am very proud of him and know that he will represent the United States and Texas well. Congratulations on your graduation Greggrie!

Brandon Malone

Brandon Malone received a Bachelor of Science in Management from the Air Force Academy. He will next be doing pilot training at Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio, TX.
